United Ways of Iowa is honored to announce we have been awarded Iowa's largest AmeriCorps grant to date - $1.6 Million for Iowa Reading Corps. The program places reading tutors in classrooms across the state to work with K-3 students to achieve reading proficiency by replicating the successful, decade-old Minnesota Reading Corps model.
This grant for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years will place up to 105 reading tutors statewide. Nine United Ways of Iowa local United Way members are funding partners in this program. The program begin in 2013.
