Champion a Cause
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
Anyone can champion a cause. Whether you write a letter to elected officials, attend school board meetings, or speak out on behalf of Education, Income and Health in your local community, you can be an advocate and LIVE UNITED.
United Ways of Iowa actively engages in public policy. Serving as the go-to resource for health and human service information, United Ways of Iowa is a strong and prominent voice at the Iowa State Capitol. To learn more about our statewide public policy work, visit the public policy section of this website.
Advocacy, however, is much more than public policy and lobbying. Wearing a ribbon to support your cause, serving as a parent advocate to support your child's education and wearing a LIVE UNITED shirt are all examples of advocacy. For information about how to advocate in your community, contact your local United Way.
